Difficult conversations9/6/2023 ![]() Think of how the other person will feel during the conversation, and allow them to process their emotions. While your delivery of the message should be stoic, this doesn’t mean you shouldn't empathize. When emotions start to take over, remind yourself that the more in control you are of your emotions, the better you'll be able to deliver the message. It can help if you simply look at things from a fact based standpoint, and focus solely on that. ![]() In this situation, take a step back and remove the relationship from the equation. This is especially important when the conversation is with an employee who you care greatly for or work closely with. If you get emotional, so will the other person. Don’t let your emotions dictate your delivery. You want to have the conversation in an even tone and keep it professional. Even if the conversation is to fire an employee, you should still offer a suggestion that will help them improve in their next job. If you’re telling an employee that they aren’t getting a raise, explain why and let them know what they need to work on to make that raise a possibility. You’ll want to clearly explain the reason for the conversation, the specific critique, and then offer suggestions to improve. Nothing is worse than delivering a critique and leaving it just at that. Illustrating what a positive outcome looks like gives the employee something solid to work towards, and helps them understand why they’re being disciplined. If you’re disciplining an employee for poor team performance, explain that to them and also talk about what it would look like when team relations are strong. You’ll also want to talk about the outcome you’d like to see. You must outline the critique and the reason you’re having the conversation, but don’t stop there. The actual words you use during the conversation matter. The more prepared you are, the easier it will be to stay even tempered and not get flustered, and therefore deliver a more solid critique. Think of the questions they might ask and have answers prepared. You want to think of what you’re going to say, as well as anticipate how the other person might react. This is not a conversation you want to have in the spur of the moment. Dirt 4 pc game9/6/2023 ![]() Some of my best races were in the trucks series in Nevada, fending off that field of horny prom dates every single lap, feeling like I should win the whole time but mindful it could be lost in a careless instant. Everyone wants to win and feel like they earned it, and the variable difficulties, handling settings and driver AI delivered this again and again. ![]() In every course, in every championship event, in every car was something for me and my tastes. Seasoned racers know how hard it is for a game to thread that needle, without rubber-banding or cheap tricks at the edges. The best thing I can say for Dirt 4 is that I never felt punished and I never felt babied. ![]() I felt that I could have done the opposite and still found success. I pursued the quick-money multipliers first, to earn cash for the vehicles I wanted, before settling on top-flight personnel and the amenities that would keep them happy. The game didn't set any rigid path for developing my racing team. Players will be asked to upgrade their support staff, their PR, their sponsorships, and facilities that enhance all three. This is the hairiest series, especially in multiplayer, and requires a user to make precise entries into each turn of the first lap to have any shot at clearing the pack.ĭirt 4 encourages the user to try all of it with a persistent career layer that applies sponsorship goals and team branding to the car in every event. There is an officially branded World Rallycross championship, which is racing against a live field on real-world courses of variable surfaces. Then there's the Land Rush, which is a circuit course for buggies (most fun) trucks (fun, but always a crapshoot, which is still fun in its own way) and the inscrutable crosskarts (no fun). The timed, straight-ahead rally is Dirt 4's bread and butter, and it has two series, one for modern cars and another for heritage vehicles of the 1970s, 80s and 90s. There is still plenty of racing enjoyment in Dirt 4's less complex settings, but experienced racers will probably blow away a bot field rated anything less than tough, while newcomers stand little chance against the top setting. Unless the course is raced perfectly, beating a "tough" AI field requires using a manual transmission at minimum, and maybe other advanced options, to get off the line at top speed and recover from otherwise costly mistakes down the course. I found a big difficulty spike, though, between the fourth AI difficulty, "demanding" and "tough," its hardest setting. In Wales, I was allowed to skid off the outside shoulder of an open hairpin and, with my entire rear axle scrambling for traction like Scooby-Doo running away from a ghost, still make a clean getaway to first place. Getting into these adverse situations won’t fail the race, but you still have to extricate yourself from them. Racing a clean lap is always an admirable goal, but Dirt 4 knows the majesty of its sport is flat-out hooning through gritted teeth. ![]() Hatchback door banging, shredded tire throwing sparks, exhaust farting in the turns like a wild pony, I still snipped the finish line in a respectable third place in Australia. Dirt 4 was a license to sling gravel through every turn of a rally course, counter-steering to my heart's content. The dirty secret of all racing video games is that folks coast into the turns, drift, and occasionally brake by hitting a wall or an opponent. Simulation showcases these differences more, but even in the casual setting I felt like I could bias the braking, front or back, in my pre-race adjustments and give myself - and meaningfully use - a little less steer on pavement or a little more on gravel.ĭirt 4's fundamental appeal is in the reckless handling of rally racing, after all. There are still perceptible differences in the vehicle handling and surface traction on the easier Gamer setting. The game offers two handling settings to accommodate racers: Gamer, a more forgiving setup, and simulation, which is more challenging. Codemasters has been so trustworthy in this duty that the handling and traction of Dirt 4 can almost be taken for granted. Of course, it's essential to a racing game that the driving action be distinct and understandable across multiple vehicles classes and numerous surfaces, from taut blacktop to waterslide mud and dry, pillow-soft, well, dirt. The game's most profound strength is the unlimited variety and replayability offered by a simple course creation tool, which is well suited to rally racing's basic appeal: hurtling into something new and unknown with nerve, skill and flat-out speed. It will take care of the rest.Įxperienced, novice, casual, committed, car buff, adrenaline junkie or anything in between, Dirt 4 has a sweet spot for everyone and it takes no time to find it. Dirt 4 has just one expectation of its players: Enjoy racing. Torrent decipher textmessage9/6/2023 ![]() Chubby boys on the beach5, c115 iMGSRC.RU Ich als girly, 00999 iMGSRC. Mira spanish9/5/2023 ![]() The closest translation I got was "Look at that thing". I thought it may have had something to do with my mispronounciation of the phrase, but none of them could translate it. Of course this was before the days that search engines on the internet were easily accessable. I created this account just so I could tell you how wonderful your answer was! I have been watching I love Lucy since I was a little girl, and one of the most memorable things about the show is that very phrase that Ricky shouts when he's angry "Mira que tiene cosa!" I had always wondered back then what it meant, so I asked a few of my Spanish speaking friends if they could translate for me. Which would explain why the native Mexican speaker responded that he/she didn't understand this phrase. In other Spanish-speaking countries, while no doubt this phrase would for the most part be generally understood, there may be other phrases specific to each of those countries that's more "natural" to them & would be heard more frequently than Ricky's "Mira que tiene cosa.". Meanwhile, Ricky Ricardo is Cuban, so this is a very common colloquial expression from Cuba. These translations say nothing about "can you believe it?" yet that feeling is certainly conveyed in the "very natural" & quite common American English expression of "How do you like THAT!!" RICKY: "¡¡¡Mira que tiene cose de ir al frente de Grauman's Chinese Theater y robarse los footprints de John Wayne!!!"ĮNGLISH: "How do you like THAT!!! Going to the forecourt of Grauman's Chinese Theater & stealing John Wayne's footprints!!!" ![]() Or the following: when in Hollywood, Ricky discovers that Lucy, Ethel & Fred have stolen John Wayne's footprints from Grauman's Chinese Theater & have hidden them under the Mertz' hotel room bed: RICKY: "¡Mira que tiene cosa la mujer esta!"ĮNGLISH: "How do you LIKE this woman!!!" (expressing both incredulity & exasperation) While yes, the "idea" behind Ricky Ricardo's phrase may be "Can you believe this?!!", the more "natural" equivalent in English would be as follows: A father working on a space station has to save his 15-year-old daughter after a meteorite shower hits Earth, using only satellite phones and cameras.I'm a professional translator & the whole idea of "quality" translating is to not translate literally from 1 language to the next but to use the best "equivalent" in the receiver language, especially with colloquial phrases where word-for-word or exact translations are rarely possible. Simplifying radical expressions9/5/2023 ![]() Upon completing this section you should be able to correctly apply the first law of exponents. MULTIPLICATION LAW OF EXPONENTS OBJECTIVES We just do not bother to write an exponent of 1. It is also understood that a written numeral such as 3 has an exponent of 1. This can be very important in many operations. When we write a literal number such as x, it will be understood that the coefficient is one and the exponent is one. Many students make the error of multiplying the base by the exponent. For example, they will say 3 4 = 12 instead of the correct answer, Note that only the base is affected by the exponent. Unless parentheses are used, the exponent only affects the factor directly preceding it. From using parentheses as grouping symbols we see thatĢx 3 means 2(x)(x)(x), whereas (2x) 3 means (2x)(2x)(2x) or 8x 3. ![]() Note the difference between 2x 3 and (2x) 3. An exponent is usually written as a smaller (in size) numeral slightly above and to the right of the factor affected by the exponent.Īn exponent is sometimes referred to as a "power." For example, 5 3 could be referred to as "five to the third power." Make sure you understand the definitions.Īn exponent is a numeral used to indicate how many times a factor is to be used in a product. When naming terms or factors, it is necessary to regard the entire expression.įrom now on through all algebra you will be using the words term and factor. Rules that apply to terms will not, in general, apply to factors. It is very important to be able to distinguish between terms and factors. When an algebraic expression is composed of parts to be multiplied, these parts are called the factors of the expression. In 2x + 5y - 3 the terms are 2x, 5y, and -3. When an algebraic expression is composed of parts connected by + or - signs, these parts, along with their signs, are called the terms of the expression. Since these definitions take on new importance in this chapter, we will repeat them. ![]() In section 3 of chapter 1 there are several very important definitions, which we have used many times. ![]() i never wanted it to be a part of my career, i believe in the seperation of church and state. This is my work, this is my job and id rather not talk about it."-Amy on religion. Lichens provide a hardy miniature ecosystem that most of us take for granted, and science still has a lot to learn about. Within the tiny folds of the lichens, even smaller creatures such as tardigrades, or water bears, live, even though those won’t be visible without a strong microscope. Zooming in on lichens can unlock a world of discovery for kids. The green coloring in some lichens comes from chlorophyll. What do they look like to the naked eye? What do they look like when you zoom in? Kids may not know that lichens are fungi combined with either algae (plant) or cynanobacteria (bacteria that undergo photosynthesis).
